Abundantia

Abundantia is a rich combination of images and words, communicating the beauty and delight of discovery.

Throughout these pages we can share Nicole Bowller's impressions of Spain and Italy, Switzerland and Scandinavia and appreciate the abundance she has discovered.

Like most travellers, Nicole has been a photographer on her journey, but she also paints and writes about her observations. Her paintings introduce each of the four sections of this book, and her writings are personal but inclusive. She invites us to join her on these travels.

Across Spain and Italy, Switzerland and Scandinavia, Nicole Bowller has followed her two great loves, art and architecture. Her experiences and observations have been distilled into this beautiful book.

We find ourselves seeing these photographs through the eyes of an architect and artist and discover that the form and texture revealed through these black and white images is surprising. There is exquisite detail in a bronze doorknocker in Venice and in a church facade in Barcelona; a profusion of dappled light playing on the paving of a tree-covered courtyard in Granada.

Nicole’s photography inspires us to see abundance in details, in landscapes, in people, but she does not place a limitation on our world. She implores us to see, wherever we are — to look around, look up, look down — and look carefully.

Abundantia is everywhere!
